Apple Crumble

Serves 6

35 minutes to prepare and cook

4-6 large Green Apples peeled and sliced

2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar

2-3 Tablespoons Golden Syrup

1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

¾ Cup Flour

2 teaspoons Baking Powder

½ Cup Desiccated Coconut

½ Cup Rolled Oats

½ Cup Brown Sugar

100grams Melted Butter

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees. Spray a large flan dish with oil.
  2. Put sliced apples into a pot and add the sugar, syrup and lemon juice. Simmer with lid on until apple is just soft. (Not too soft, or the apple will start to go mushy).
  3. In a large bowl, sift your flour and baking powder and add your other dry ingredients.
  4. Pour the melted butter in to the crumble mix.
  5. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the semi-cooked apples and juice into the flan.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble over the top and bake in your oven for 20-25 minutes or until the crumble is golden and cooked.
  7. Serve with vanilla ice-cream and fresh cream.

NOTE- you can also put frozen berries on top of your crumble, to add a bit of extra colour and variety.
