Chocolate Slice

Makes 15 slices

20 minutes to prepare and cook

125 grams (4oz) Melted Butter

½ Cup Brown Sugar, firmly packed

1 Cup Coconut

½ Cup Plain Flour

1/3 Cup Self-Raising Flour

1 ½ Tablespoons Cocoa

1 Egg (lightly beaten)

2 Tablespoons of Water (optional)

1 Cup Icing Sugar

1 Tablespoon Cocoa

1 teaspoon soft butter

1 tablespoon Milk

  1. Put your oven on to 180 degrees. Spray and line a medium size sandwich baking tin.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  3. Stir in sugar and cocoa. Dissolve through.
  4. Sift flours and add to butter mix, add coconut and beaten egg.
  5. Spread mixture over base of tin. Bake for 20 minutes until just firm to touch.
  6. While the base is cooking, sift icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl. Stir in butter and enough milk to give a thick paste.
  7. Take cooked base out of oven and spread icing over it straight away. Smooth out with a hot flat spoon or knife. (Heat your spreading utensil until hot running tap).
  8. Sprinkle coconut over icing. Using a sharp knife, mark your pieces into squares and leave to set cold. When slice is cold, cut right through into pieces and store in air-tight container. Freezer Friendly.
